At the initiative of the Defense Committee, the Office of Technology Assessment at the German Bundestag (TAB) has published a working report on "Biotechnology and Artificial Intelligence: Risks of Research for Security and the Proliferation of Biological Weapons." The results of the TAB project will be publicly discussed with members of the German Bundestag and experts in a specialized meeting.

Two key questions will be at the center of the discussion:

• Can the interplay of AI and biotechnology (AIxBio) enable the development of novel biological weapons or facilitate their production and use in practice?
• How can potential risks posed by different actors be mitigated at the national and international levels without disproportionately restricting the opportunities of AIxBio for innovation?

Expert contributions to the discussion will include a presentation by Una Jakob on "International Security and the Non-Proliferation of Biological Weapons."

The event will be held in German. It is open to the public and will be streamed live on www.bundestag.de.
