The new CNTR Fact Sheet by Dr. Niklas Schörnig (CNTR/PRIF) and Prof. Dr. Bernhard Koch (Institute für Military Medical Ethics of the German Armed Forces) provides an overview of the characteristics of human enhancement, and its forms and use in the military. In addition, it highlights the technologies' potentials and risks and outlines various ethical perspectives on the matter.
The Fact Sheet on human enhancement is part of CNTR's Fact Sheet series. The Fact Sheets are published on a regular basis to make the project's research findings available to a wider audience and to counteract disinformation. Dr. Niklas Schörnig is head of the CNTR research group “Emerging Disruptive Technologies” at PRIF. His research focuses on emerging military technology, the future of warfare and arms control.
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Koch is a philosopher and ethicist serving as Deputy Director of the Institute for Military Medical Ethics of the Bundeswehr. A key focus of his work is on autonomous (weapon) systems.
