On June 13, 2024, Malte Göttsche was welcomed as the newest member of the board of the German Foundation for Peace Research (DSF). The five members of the Executive Board are appointed by the Board of Trustees for a three-year term of office. The board manages the Foundation's business and implements the resolutions of the Board of Trustees. Its tasks are in particular: the use of the Foundation's funds, controlling the management of the Foundation's assets, the preparation of the annual business plan and the annual financial statements, the preparation of the activity report, and the appointment of a managing director.

The German Peace Research Foundation was established in October 2000 by the Federal Republic of Germany. It was founded with the purpose to “permanently strengthen peace research in accordance with its foreign and security policy significance, particularly in Germany, and to contribute to its political and financial independence.” The purpose of the foundation is fulfilled in accordance with its statutes through the following tasks: Promotion and initiation of scientific projects, organizing national and international scientific conferences, promotion of young scientists, promoting scientific networking, and communicating research results to practitioners and the public. The foundation does not carry out its own scientific research.

Prof. Dr. Malte Göttsche is Professor for Peace Research in Natural Sciences at TU Darmstadt and heads the CNTR research group “Science for Nuclear Diplomacy” at PRIF. He is interested in nuclear nonproliferation, arms control and disarmament. His particular focus is the development of new verification methods and technologies.
